As a sperm donor, you receive compensation for your help. For many men, the greatest reward of being a sperm donor is being able to help others. But of course, you shall receive financial compensation for the inconvenience.
The amount that you receive is in principle considered as a compensation for your inconvenience and transport. In other words, you are not being paid for your sperm.
As a sperm donor, you can receive up to DKK 500 per donation. If you donate three times a week, you can receive up to DKK 6,000 a month. The amount is based on the quality of the sperm, the amount of sperm you donate each time and your profile type. You are guaranteed a minimum of DKK 100 for a donation – even if the sample is not approved. You will receive the financial compensation when you have made 10 donations (also called a batch), and your blood and urine tests have been approved. Once a batch is completed, you simply start a new one.
In addition to the standard compensation, you also have the opportunity to receive a bonus amount. If you choose to fill out an extended profile, you will receive a bonus amount of DKK 1500, and as a non-anonymous donor, you will receive a bonus of DKK 500 when you fill out the consent forms. The bonus amounts are one-off amounts and you will receive them together with the standard compensation.
The money can be reimbursed in cash and anonymously. You must personally report this income to the Danish Customs and Tax Administration (SKAT).
